A debut season. Last Year.

So I begin by filling you in on my debut season in triathlon. I took part in three events last year and loved the experience of every one of them. First up was the Pru Health Hyde park tri in May followed by the London triathlon and finally Hever Castle. What distances I hear you say? All were super sprints, so averaging around 400m swims with 15-20K bike sections and up to 4K runs.  By far the hardest was Hever castle as this took place in September (lake slightly on the cold side) but my condition was not a s good as earlier in the year, particularly with a 6 week old baby. The bike was hilly and the run was also up and down. More of a trail run really.

It isn’t the first time completing organised events as I have taken part in many sportives and the previous year had completed the inaugural Ride London. Why did I decide on triathlon? Actually the first I entered was the London tri as I wanted the extra challenge. I knew I was a pretty decent swimmer when I was younger but the big question mark was over my running. I recently suffered from a right knee injury which seem to manifest into creating other problems with my ITB and hamstring. This was going on for some time.

The good thing is that I completed all with no problems at all with the knee. Results as follows:

So…nothing amazing. The one event I was chuffed with was my 14th age group place in the London tri. Not bad i thought.

I leave you with a few pictures
